LIMBANG: Works Ministry will soon organise meetings and workshops with LBU (North Borneo Expressway) contractors and the implementing agencies to discuss the failure of the contractors of the Pan Borneo Highway project to comply with their contract terms.

Its minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said also taking part in the workshops and meetings will be the consultants, Public Works Department (PWD) and companies involved in implementing the project.

“I will also hold surprise checks to ensure that the contractors concerned abide by such guidelines.

“Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including Traffic Management Program (TMP) should be followed with safety features such as street lighting and signboards, “he said when met by the media after officiating the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth Chief Appreciation Gathering at Dewan Suarah here.

Fadillah, who is also the State PBB Youth Chief, said warnings and final instructions would be given to them to ensure that the SOPs are adhered to, stressing that the safety of road users should not be compromised.

The problem with the errant contractors was pointed out by Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing recently.
